The newspaper is written in the Portuguese language, most or much of the articles are written in, some articles are also written in Capeverdean Creole. Online, recently, some of its articles can be found in English.

History
A Semana alongside Expresso das Ilhas were founded in 1991.[1] Both are the second newspapers founded after the country's independence. The newspaper started out as weekly as the newspaper was named after. It became a daily paper and did not change its name.
The newspaper celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2001 and recently celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2016.

A Semana also features sports, the main one is titled "Lance Desportivo" ("Sports Launch"), weather, businesses and entertainment. A Semana features a special section called "Kriolidadi" or "Kriolidade"; dedicated to
