He was the son of Pandit Nandlal Nehru (the elder brother of

Rameshwari Raina, a noted social and women activist and a freedom fighter and recipient of Padma Bhushan in 1955,[4] Later she also won the Lenin Peace Prize in 1961.[5]

Their son was Braj Kumar Nehru (1909-2001), an administrator and Padma Vibhushan recipient.[6]

Brijlal died on 27 May 1964, the same day on which his illustrious cousin died.[7]
