The CISL was affiliated to the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU), and in 1959 Storti was elected to its executive committee. In 1965, he became president of the ICFTU, serving until 1972.[1]
Storti was a member of the Christian Democracy, and in 1958 he was elected as a deputy for Rome. From 1959, he also served as a Member of the European Parliament, and on the International Labour Organization's Workers' Group.[1]
Storti retired as leader of the CISL in 1977, and became president of the National Council for Economics and Labour, serving until 1989.[1]
