History

It was one of over 120 cities in the

Carthage, but would fade away, plausibly at the seventh century advent of Islam
.

Its ruins are at Kessaria (obviously still named after Caesariana) in modern Algeria.

Its only historically documented incumbent was not Catholic but the schismatic

Caesarea in Numidia
.

Titular see

The diocese was nominally restored in 1933 as Latin

titular bishopric
of Cæsariana (Latin; Curiate Italian Cesariana).
