At one point, Richardson was considered one of the top prospects for the 2014 NFL draft.[4][5] Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com named him one of college football's “most physical players.”[6]

Buffalo Bills
Richardson was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the fifth round, 153rd overall.[8] He played in 12 games as a rookie, making four starts. On September 4, 2015, he was released by the Bills.[9] On September 6, 2015, the Bills signed Richardson to their practice squad.[10]
On January 4, 2016, Richardson signed a futures contract with the Bills.[11] He was released by the Bills on September 2, 2016.[12]
Chicago Bears
On November 15, 2016, Richardson was signed to the Chicago Bears' practice squad.[13] He signed a reserve/future contract with the Bears on January 3, 2017.[14] He was waived on September 2, 2017.[15]
San Antonio Commanders
In September 2018, Richardson signed with the San Antonio Commanders of the Alliance of American Football.[16] The league ceased operations in April 2019.[17]
