An erotic dance is a

performance and social dance
.

The erotic dancer's

genitals is illegal, a dancer may respectively wear pasties or a g-string
to stay within the law.

Nudity, though a common feature, is not a requirement of erotic dance. The culture and the ability of the human body is a significant aesthetic component in many dance styles.

Difference between erotic and exotic dances

Erotic dances are sometimes mistakenly referred to (or euphemised) as

exotic dances
. While there can be overlap they are not the same, and although exotic dances can incorporate nudity or even take place fully naked not all exotic dances are erotic, and not all erotic dances occur wholly or partially naked. Erotic dancing refers to the purpose of the dancing while exotic dancing refers mainly to the style of dancing.
