Summary

Description

"cronichles from the lab"

Optical microscope (Nikon eclipse ME600) image of a faulty <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lift-off_(microtechnology)" rel="noreferrer nofollow">lift-off</a> of a thin gold film from a lithium niobate (crystal) surface. Gold should have been removed completely from the areas where it's wrinkled because, by <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photolithography" rel="noreferrer nofollow">photolitography</a>, a layer of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photoresist" rel="noreferrer nofollow">photoresist</a> should have protected that area on the crystal surface. But the photoresist was clearly not enough. On the left, the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interdigital_transducer" rel="noreferrer nofollow">IDTs</a> which I wanted to fabricate can be seen.
