Description
English: The Kidangoor Subramanya Swami Temple is a pre-11th century twin Hindu temple complex located on the banks of Meenachil river (historic name: Gauna Nadi) in Kidangoor, Kottayam district in Kerala. Thus, this Hindu temple site celebrates all major historic Hindu traditions.

The temple is called Parighapuresan kovil in regional historic literature, as Kidangoor used to be called Parighapura. The complex includes square plan vimana with sreekovil, sopanam, namaskara mandapa, nalambalam, a koothambalam (temple dance/music performance theatre), thidappalli (pilgrim kitchen), mulayara, vilakku madam, balipeetam, kodimaram, a ghat on Meenachil river banks for pilgrim bathing, and other structures.

The Kidangur Subramanya Swamy Temple is a notable for its Hindu artwork in wood in the main shrines, as well as the Natysastra art and architecture in its Koothambalam. The artwork depicts scenes and characters from the Ramayana and Mahabharata. The temple is also famous for its colorful murals.
