The 1955 Fords shared the same structure as the 1954 Ford. New features included Thunderbird inspired tailfins, wrap around windshield, forward leaning headlight bezels and body side trim. The new trim lent itself to two tone paint. Factory air conditioning was now available.
The Mainline, still the base model, available in 2 and 4 door Sedan.
The Customline still the mid spec, also available in 2 and 4 door Sedan, more chrome and better interior trim.
The Fairlane was now the top, replacing the Crestline.
Post cars were the 4 door Town Sedan and the 2 door Club Sedan, the Sunliner was the convertible, the 2 door Club Victoria was pillarless Coupe, the Crown Victoria Coupe had a chrome band up the B pillar and across the roof, the 'Skyliner' option came with an acrylic roof in front of the chrome band.
Wagons were the 2 door Ranch Sedan, 4 door Country Sedan and 4 door Country Squire (wood panelling)
Unique to Australia was V8 Mainline Coupe Utility, (the US front clip and the chassis from the US 2 door convertible) They were built in Australia, along with the V8 Customline Sedan and a few Customline wagons.
Engines; 120hp 223 6 cyl OHV or 162hp 272 and 193hp 292 Y block V8s
