Description

"A soldier surrendering"; WWI postcard art: One soldier surrenders to another, amid artillery bursts, & with a line of silhouetted soldiers in the background (from the directions in which the 2 main figures are facing, these additional troops appear to be from the capturING soldier's side). There is a caption, written in cursive, apparently in German; not yet translated (help?). The nationalities of the subjects not (yet) identified, possibly the captive is Italian, & the captor is Austrian? or vice-versa. Pen & ink drawing; done on a blank-faced, printed "Postkarte". Signed "H.H." probably this is short for "H. Heinrich" (Austrian or German artist; see File:Ulhan (cavalry) charge.WWI postcard art.Wittig collection.item 31.scan.obverse.jpg). Created during WWI, therefore obviously pre-1923; uploaded here to avoid Commons' "dual jurisdiction" PD rule.

Please do not transfer to WMC unless you can confirm the item's PD-status as per Commons' requirements.
