Allen Trimble (11/24/1783-2/3/1870) was born in Augusta County, VA. He moved to Ohio in 1805. He was elected Highland County Clerk of Courts in 1808. He represented Highland County in the Ohio House of Representatives 1816-17. He served in the State Senate 1817-1826, serving as Speaker of the Senate in 1818. He was elected the 9th Governor of Ohio, serving 1826-30. After leaving public office, Allen was in the cattle import business and became the first president of the Ohio Agriculture Board, 1846-48. He died in Hillsboro, Ohio. His first wife was Margaret McDowell and his second wife was Rachel Woodrow. |
