Summary

Description
English: Anonymous, registered, and bot edits. English Wikipedia timeline by percent of article edits. Only article edits are counted, not talk pages, etc.. The box of explanatory text lists the total cumulative number of edits (in millions) for the period covered by the timeline. More current charts are needed.

See also the top left of the chart: "100 = max edits in Mar 2007: x,xxx, xxx" (that number changes a little now and then). That is the number of article edits on English Wikipedia in the month of March 2007. That was the largest number for any month in the timeline.

That number is found in Wikipedia Statistics - Tables - English. See the "Database" header, and then the "edits" column. That column shows monthly article edit totals (including redirects) going back all the way to Jan. 2001 when Wikipedia started. Note: Bot edits need to be separated out since their totals can vary greatly month to month. Separate columns are needed for monthly edit totals for registered users, anonymous IP users, and bots.

This link goes to the section concerning anonymous IP contributors. It states: "All together 110,164,389 article edits were made by anonymous users, out of a total of 369,000,106 article edits (30%)" That is what it said on August 2, 2013. Those are totals since Wikipedia started in January 2001.
Date See the date of creation at the top right of the chart. If the chart continues to be updated, then please upload a new version of it every few months from the source links below.
