| Description |
English: An Atlantic sturgeon washed up on the Refuge beach. These large, prehistoric-looking fish are covered in bony plates rather than scales. They were severely overharvested, especially in the late 1800s, and are now state endangered and federally threatened. Researchers from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration therefore collected this 4.5 foot specimen for further study. |
