English: Example of EC86 triode vacuum tube in a Barkhausen-Kurz oscillator circuit. The Barkhausen-Kurz oscillator, invented by Heinrich Barkhausen and Karl Kurz in 1920, was the first "transit time" oscillator and the first oscillator capable of producing power at UHF frequencies. In the Barkhausen circuit the triode is not operated in its normal mode, but with the grid at higher potential than the plate. The electrons in the tube form a cloud which is attracted by the grid, passes through it, is repelled by the plate, passes back through the grid, and is repelled by the cathode. The electrons oscillate back and forth through the grid at the resonant frequency.
Deutsch: Beispiel einer Elektronenröhre EC86 die Barkhausen-Kurz Schwingungen erzeugt.
