Christian 3.s Bibel, Det Kongelige Bibliotek: Efter Reformationen i Danmark i 1536 skulle Biblen oversættes til dansk. Resultatet blev Christian III’s Bibel, der udkom i 1550, den første hele bibel på dansk. Oplaget var usædvanligt stort, 3000 eksemplarer, for der skulle efter kongens befaling ligge et eksemplar i hver kirke i Danmark og Norge. Oversættelsen blev foretaget med Luthers tyske bibel som forlæg, og den blev nøje kontrolleret af en kommission, som Christian III (f. 1503) 1534-1559) havde udpeget. Da det store værk lå færdigt i 1548, blev den tyske bogtrykker Ludwig Dietz indkaldt til at forestå trykningen. Biblen er forsynet med talrige træskårne illustrationer, tidligere brugt i en udgave af Luthers tyske bibel fra 1534 og tegnet af den tyske kunstner Erhard Altdorfer.
