For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.  Westwall, Besichtigung durch Adolf Hitler
Der Führer in der Festungslinie. Der Führer und Oberste Befehlshaber der Wehrmacht besichtigte im Anschluß an seinen Aufenthalt in Saarbrücken Befestigungsanlagen und Truppenteile im Westen. Ueberall dort, wo sich der Führer zeigte, wurden ihm begeisterte Kundgebungen durch die Truppen, die innerhalb der Befestigungen tätigen Arbeitskräfte und die gesamte Grenzbevölkerung bereitet. Der Führer nahm die Gelegenheit wahr, zahlreiche Male den ihn umringenden Arbeitermassen seinen Dank für ihre Leistungen auszusprechen: der Führer bei seinen Arbeitern. 12.10.38 Abgebildete Personen:
