Description
English: Canopic jar of pharaoh Smendes, founder of the 21st Dynasty. This particular jar was intended to contain the king's liver, since it is inscribed for Qebehsenuef, the falcon-headed deity deputed to the protection of this organ. Calcite alabaster, early 21st Dynasty, Third Intermediate Period. Metropolitan Museum of Art, acc. no. 47.60.
