English: Castle Mound. Situated around the back of the village, on the end of a low ridge is a quadrangular moated platform, 55m across and 4-5m tall. It is the site of a castle or fortified manor house that was built in 1314 by Henry le Scope. It had been abandoned by 1630, and there is no evidence left aside from the mound surrounded by a ring of trees, except here on the west side where the outer ringwork has been destroyed by ploughing.
