El Cementerio de Panqueco está ubicado cerca de Puerto Lapi, al costado de la ruta T-775, a unos 20 kilómetros del poblado de Lago Ranco. Se trata de un cementerio de más de 200 años de antigüedad de origen indígena mapuche, actualmente usado por todas las personas, tanto mapuches como no mapuches. Está a orillas del Río Bueno y tiene aproximadamente 200 tumbas. Está cercado por estacas de pellín y alambre de púas, que lo separan de las vacas pastando en el campo aledaño. Hay sepulturas antiguas de piedra gastada y con musgo, y otras muy recientes. Algunas son de madera y asemejan forma de casas, tradición común en los cementerios mapuche huilliche. Se presume que la orientación de las tumbas más antiguas hacia el este, es decir, hacia la salida del sol, podría ser intencional como parte de las tradiciones de la sepultación mapuche.
