New Garden Seeds MILLETâWHITE WONDER The seed of this wonderful Millet was brought to this country from China by a Russian soldier who served in the Japan-Russian war. The most striking- feature of White Wonder is the size of the heads. These will run from eight to eighteen inches and a head will have as many as 15,000 seeds. The yield of White Wonder Millet is very heavy, fully half again as much as German Millet and some growers state that it will outyield other Millets three to one. Another very desirable feature is its earliness. It is much earlier than German Millet and is almost as early as Siberian Millet. The foliage is very heavy and the leaves broad, re- sembling those of Corn. It produces an immense amount of excellent fodder which cures very readily. On account of the earliness. the immense yield of both grain and fodder, and the very vigorous growth which leaves the ground clean, White Wonder will be in big demand and Ave urge a liberal planting. Oz., loc; lb., 4 0c; 3 lbs., $1.00, postpaid. Peck, by express not prepaid, $2.00. NEW HARDY HYBRID ALFALFA Successful on Poor Soil and for Pasture Some thirty years ago we helped introduce Alfalfa and urged its cultivation. Everybody now knows its enormous value to the farms and ranches of the coun- try. Its one great fault is that it will not succeed ex- cept in highly favored localities. We are therefore most pleased to be able to offer a new hybrid sort, fully as good in every way; that it is perfectly hardy and at home â¡n any farm in the United States or Canada. A cross between the wild, yellow-flowering sort with the common Alfalfa; thereby giving us the hardiness or the former with the productiveness of the latter, and Lt is as hardy as an oak. This valuable new variety has. instead of only one tap root, a branching root system. Also, instead of a single exposed crown at the surface, it has an under- ground receding crown, with a perfect protection of soil over it, thereby protecting the young buds and tender shoots from extreme heat and cold; but more, and most 'especially, from injury by bruising, splitting and tramp- ing bv stock pasturing thereon. It is the only success- ful AlfalTa on shallow soil, on account or its spreading root system affording the greatest possible security against damage of all sorts. There is untold value in this New Hybrid AHalTa to Tarmers in sections where the common Alfalfa does not succeed or is uncertain. Our advice to such is to get started with it as soon as possible. Per oz., 20c; % lb., 60C; 1 lb., $2.00; 3 lbs., $5.00. JAPANESE BUCKWHEAT This grows vigorously, stands up well and produces double the crop of ordinary Buckwheat. It is a real boon to farmers all over the country. - It is also much earlier and escapes early frosts. Pound, 40c, postnaid; peck, $1.25; bushel, $4.00, by express collect. NEW OATS, HEAVYWEIGHT The fame of the Heavyweight Oat is becoming wide- spread. Coming East from the Northwest a few years ago it has become thoroughly tested in all parts or the country and has proved to be such an immense cropper that it is no exaggeration to say that it will yield about twice as much weight of grain per acre as any other variety. Ohio claims it to yield double that of common Oats. Vermont reports 117 bushels per acre. New York 7 8 bushels. Connecticut-grown seed weighs 4 6 pounds to the bushel, and a Pennsylvania farmer reports four bushels more than twice as much as common Oats. Straw stiff and sturdy, holding the heavy heads well up, and seldom lodges. Enormously productive and very heavy. We can recommend this wonderful Oat for any part of the country. Price, lb., 40c; 3 lbs., $1.00, post- paid. Bv express or freight, not prepaid, peck, £1.00; bushel, $2.50. EARLY RED TOP SUGAR CANE For the North This Cane is so earlv that it matures here in Septem- ber from Mav sowing. Grows about twelve feet high and up to the time it heads, looks just like Corn. The stalks are very sweet and from them syrup may be had as it is made in the South. Splendid for cattle and hogs, as it is so sweet it has great fat producing qual- ity Very odd and curious and may be made useful as well. Sow seed in drills a few inches apart and make the rows three feet apart. Pkt., 10c; lb., 60c; 4 lbs.. $2.00. Standard Grass and Clover Seed The seed here offered is of the highest grades known to commerce, not the stock usually quoted and sold, it is all re-cleaned, fresh, heavy, of perfect germination and selected strains. PRICESâGrass «eed prices are not very stable and sonic fluctuation may occur. We quote prices prevailing in December, when this catalog went to press, we no not expect any material advance by spring, yet then may be. ir our prices prove too high at an.\ time through the season we will give due rebate. ^ ^ Glover, RedâExtra re-cleaned Mammoth 90 » AlsikeâSuperfine ,â " WhiteâExtra re-cleaned fJJ CrimsonâExtra re-cleaned «» " SweetâWhite blooming, hulled 60 Alfalfa, Superfine ⢠⢠⢠⢠⢠â -2X TimothyâExtra superfine re-cleaned do Red TopâEanrv re-cleaned 4U Blue Grass KentuckyâExtra heavy 50 Orchard GrassâSelected superllne so Vetch Spring *f Vetch, Hairy or Sand Rape, Dwarf Essex â Above nrices are per lb. by express at buyers cx pen^fe buPt includ? bags, irdesired by parcel post, prepaid, add 10c per lb. for postage and prt"Mng
