Summary

Description
English: Chilly for nudism Henry Moore's 'Reclining Figure' looks just a trifle out of place in the snow and frost outside the Gallery of Modern Art. This sculpture was commissioned by the Arts Council of Great Britain for the 1951 Festival of Britain exhibition in London. Moore was asked to make a carving of a family group symbolising 'Discovery', but he chose instead to make a large reclining figure in bronze. The sculpture seen at the Gallery here is this original cast.
