Description
English: An engraving depicting the Ptolemaic ruler Cleopatra VII of Egypt (69 - 30 BC) by French artist Élisabeth Sophie Chéron (1648 - 1711) entitled "Portrait de Clèopatre derniere Reine d'Egypte tiré d'un Medaillon", from plate 40 of "Pierres Antiques Gravées Tirées des Principaux Cabinets de la France" (published c. 1736). The dimensions of the plate, with wide margins, are 190 x 132 mm (7½ x 5¼). The engraving is based on a medallion of Cleopatra dated to the Hellenistic period of antiquity.
