Blasonnement: D'azur, au soleil d'or chargé des lettres IHS de gueules surmontées d'une croix du même et de trois clous de sable en pal, accompagné en pointe d'une étoile d'argent sénestrée d'une grappe du même.

Les armoiries du Pape François reprennent son blason cardinalice et les ornements du Pape précédent.

La devise "Miserando atque eligendo" signifie "qui prend pitié et qui choisit". C'est une référence à un sermon de Saint Bède le Vénérable, moine et docteur de l’Église.
English: These were the original arms of Pope Francis. He later changed the star and clarified the depiction of the Nardus.
