Description
Deutsch: Wappen der ehemaligen Stadt Werden, seit 1929 Stadtteil von Essen:
„In Rot ein mit vier roten Kugeln besetzes silbernes (weißes) Pallium.“

Das Wappen wurde von Kurt Schweder entworfen und hatte nie offiziellen Charakter. Ende der 1980er Jahre schuf der Heraldiker für alle Essener Stadtteile Wappen. Sie sind inzwischen von der Essener Bevölkerung gut angenommen worden.

Auf einem Korrespondentensiegel des 17. Jahrhunderts ist das Wappen belegt. Vor der Figur des heiligen Ludgerus sieht man ein Wappen mit dem Pallium.

English: „Gules, a pall Argent charged with four torteaux.“

The arms were drawn by Kurt Schweder who designed coats of arms for all districts of Essen in die 1980s; they were never official used, but meanwhile recognized by the citizens of Essen and its districts.

The arms show the pallium, shown on a seal of the 17. century. The figure of Saint Ludger was shown with the pallium arms.
