Title
English: Found - Study for the Head of the Girl
Description
English: This is the finished study finally used for the oil painting, Found (Delaware Art Museum, Wilmington). Rossetti abandoned the painting for several years, taking an interest in it again only in 1859 on the offer of a commmission from the Newcastle collector James Leathart. The immediate results seem to have been a number of studies in pen and ink of the heads of the man and woman, including this sheet. The model is Fanny Cornforth; although she is known to have sat for Rossetti in early 1858 this would appear to be Rossetti's earliest surviving drawing of her.
