Summary

Description

This wartime poster from 1944 was provided to help address “the present acute shortage of coal” and was designed to inform “engineers, engine drivers and firemen”. It was issued by the Marine Department. Some of the measures recommended might also help with fuel economy in the 21st century. These posters were sent to various bodies, including NZTS Papakura Camp, Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board, Westfield Freezing Co., Read (NZ) Rubber Mills, Fletcher Construction, Amalgamated Brick and Pipe Co.
