Notes
English: Often called "Leonora", Eleonora di Garzia di Toledo should not be confused with the
Philip II of Spain. Leonora's husband, Don Pietro de' Medici, was a son of the older Eleonora and Cosimo. Leonora was known for her vivacity and for her affairs. Pietro strangled her with a dog leash for her adultery, with the approval of his brother, Francesco I de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany. (Reference: Caroline P.
