Summary

Description
English: Front view of card sent to viewers of Garfield Goose and Friends in response to mail.
  • There are no copyright marks or statements on this card as seen at photo links.
  • It was created by Roy Brown, the graphics artist and puppeteer for the program as a response to the letters of young viewers.
  • It was created for distribution to the show's viewers; copies were distributed in response to fan letters, photo requests, etc. The image was meant to attract attention and publicity for the show. The aim of this image was exactly the same as the publicity shots/stills done in the film industry.
  • The inside of the card indicates the source of it was WGN-TV, as the name of the program and the days it aired are displayed as well as depictions of the show's regular cast of characters.
  • The television show left the airwaves in 1976, so it is within the timeframe for the pre-1978 no copyright markings ruling.
  • Copyright searches were done on the following without any results:
Garfield Goose
Frazier Thomas
WGN-TV
  • They reveal that WGN-TV renewed no copyrights to this image or any collection of images or any collection of material that might encompass this image.
  • There is no evidence that WGN-TV claims copyright on the image.
  • United States Copyright Office page 2 "Visually Perceptible Copies The notice for visually perceptible copies should contain all three elements described below. They should appear together or in close proximity on the copies.
