1908 - 1968 (1983) Steel Great Lakes bulk freighter Built at Cleveland OH by American Ship Building Co., Hull 442 Launched April 28, 1908 500’ LOA, 480’ LBP, 54’ beam, 30’ depth 1 deck, arch cargo hold construction, hatches @ 24’, coal-fired boilers, triple expansion engine, 1600 IHP Enrolled at Cleveland OH May 28, 1908 (#72) 480.0 x 54.0 x 30.0, 5905 GT, 4413 NT US 205260 to: Hanna Transit Co., Cleveland OH, W. C. Richardson, Mgr. (home port Fairport OH) Entered service June 6, 1908 clearing Cleveland OH light for Toledo OH to load coal Wrecked Nov 9, 1913 on Port Austin Reef off Pointe aux Barques MI, Lake Huron in the “Big Storm” of 1913 and broke in two. Upbound with coal from Lorain OH for Fort William ON. No lives lost. Abandoned to the underwriters as a constructive total loss. Enrollment surrendered Nov 26, 1913. Salvaged by Reid Wrecking Co., Sarnia ON and towed to Collingwood ON, where she was rebuilt by Collingwood Shipbuilding Co. Sold 1915 to Great Lakes Transportation Co., Midland ON, James Playfair, Mgr. (home port to Midland ON) and renamed Glenshee. Enrolled Canadian at 480.0 x 54.0 x 26.0, 5667 GT, 3788 NT Can 134511 Fleet sold 1926 to Canada Steamship Lines, Montreal QC Renamed Marquette (2) 1926 Renamed Goderich (1) 1927 Laid up at end of 1961 season at Quebec QC and did not operate again for this fleet. Sold 1963 to Algoma Central & Hudson Bay Railway Co., Sault St. Marie ON (home port to Sault Ste. Marie ON) and renamed Agawa (2) Sold 1968 to Goderich Elevator & Transit Co., Goderich ON for grain storage in Goderich harbor, retired from active service (home port to Goderich ON) and renamed Lionel Parsons.
