Summary

Description
English: The resistance to vertical loading of a floating ice cover, namely a vehicle on an ice road, by the water below it, referred to as buoyancy, may be divided into two components, i.e. that required to support A) the weight of the ice cover itself, and B) that of the vehicle. The former is uniform; the latter is a function of the deflection below the vehicle.
