Description
Perteneciente al retablo mayor de la iglesia del colegio de Agustinos Calzados de Madrigal junto con La Adoración de los Pastores (P2471), Aparición de santa Leocadia a san Ildefonso (P5412) y la Imposición de la casulla a san Ildefonso (P5424). Registrado por Ceán (1800): MADRIGAL / COLEGIO DE AGUSTINOS CALZADOS / Seis quadros en el altar mayor con figuras del tamaño del natural, firmados en 1603. Representan la encarnacion, el nacimiento, la resurreccion y la ascension del hijo de Dios; S. Ildefonso recibiendo la casulla de mano de la Virgen; y el mismo santo cortando el cendal a santa Leocadia. Los cuadros con La Resurrección y La Ascensión de Cristo no aparecen registrados en ninguno de los inventarios conocidos. Es probable que fueran sustraídos o vendidos fraudulentamente como inservibles en alguna subasta. En cualquier caso, se desconoce su paradero. Los cuatro registrados en el Inventario general de los cuadros de la Trinidad existentes en el depósito y escogidos por la Comisión de la Academia fueron expuestos en el salón grande de la Galería Principal del Museo de la Trinidad (Inventario de los cuadros y estatuas presentados en la inauguración del Museo Nacional de la Trinidad el 24 de junio de 1838).
