Summary
DescriptionM1M3 Lifted from Polishing Cell to Box (rubin-img-3674-polishing-cell).jpg |
English: The Primary/Tertiary Mirror is lifted from the polishing cell to its box. The lifter is supported by the crane above the Mirror with 54 vacuum pads on the Mirror. The pumps connecting the pads (the yellow boxes on the lifter) create a vacuum under each pad and secure the Mirror to the lifter. The bottom covers of the box are then removed so technicians can attach the Mirror's hard points, the gold-tone fixtures under the Mirror, to the blue supporting fixtures of the box. |
