Description
Deutsch: Auf dem Maughold-Stein, hier eine Zeichnung von etwa 1910, befinden sich neben einer Runeninschrift ("Jóan, der Priester, schnitzte diese Runen") auch die ersten 15 (von 16) Runen der jüngeren Runenreihe, beides in der schwedisch-norwegischen Ausprägung als Kurzzweigrunen. Zusätzlich sind auch die ersten 10 Zeichen der Ogham-Schrift eingeritzt. Die Einritzungen der Runen und Ogham-Zeichen zusammen auf dem gleichen Stein machen den Maughold-Stein dadurch zu einer Besonderheit.

English: On the Maughold Stone - here a drawing from about 1910 - there is a runic inscription ("Jóan the priest carved these runes. Fuþorkhniastbml") inscribed in short twig runes (Swedish-Norwegian rune variant). Below this inscription are carved the first ten Ogham letters.
