Fig. in illustrates the Hallberg Economizer whichcontrolled the arc at the time photographs for Figs. 109and no were taken, and just as a matter of instructionand advice to operators who are using this device, Iwant to say that it is of the utmost importance that thecarbons be clamped tightly in the holders; that the as-bestos covered cables be perfectly attached to substantiallugs; that the lugs be securely fastened to the carbonclamps; that all connections be made and maintained per-fectly clean and tight to secure good contact; that theeconomizer should be placed at least one foot away fromthe sheet iron lined wall, and last, but not least, that theline voltage does not fall below the amount specified onthe name plate of the economizer and, of course, that thecycles are in accordance with the number stamped on thename plate. 190 MOTION PICTURE ELECTRICITY
