The image shows the cross-eyed look that inspired her name. It also alludes to the destruction she causes in this episode, which in turn is part of the discussion of the back-and-forth on this episode by Hasbro to remove her name and somewhat "underp" her eyes for subsequent broadcast after complains were received by fans. |

The concepts of what "derp" eyes as used on Derpy is not easy to explain through textual description alone. The nature of the scene (showing destruction of the background structure), while can be captured in text, is much clearer from the visual image. |
