Summary

Description
English: For the first time ever, the NASA Shuttle Carrier Aircraft 905 (foreground) and NASA 911 aircraft (rear) were captured together by photographer Carla Thomas as they flew in formation over the Rio Tinto Borax mine west of Boron, at the Edwards Air Force Base test range.
Located in the western Mojave Desert and eastern Kern County, California.
NASA 905 was on a functional check flight after undergoing maintenance, while NASA 911 was aloft on a flight crew proficiency flight.
