Summary

Description The old downtown terminal of the Seattle Center Monorail, over Pine Street at Westlake Avenue (which was halfway between 4th and 5th Avenues, and pedestrianized), in 1982 – viewed from the east-northeast, with a monorail train laying over. This terminal was closed on September 1, 1986, and demolished over the next two months, and the monorail line was permanently shortened by about 100 feet and realigned to follow 5th Avenue instead of Westlake Avenue south of Olive Way. The permanent replacement terminal station opened in February 1989. In the background of this view, the flagship store of the The Bon Marché (branded as The Bon at the time) is visible. In the foreground, two sets of trolleybus wires for the Seattle trolleybus system can be seen.
