Arabian horses date back morethan 3,000 years to the time of Ish-mael. Arabian and other orientalhorses have been used as breeders inthe foundation stock of different horsebreeds in the United States from thetime that General Washington rodehis famous half-bred Arabian stallionduring the Revolutionary War. Eng-lish and American stud books pro-vide for the registration of Arabianhorses. Probably all recognizedbreeds of. trotting and running horseshad Arabian blood in the foundationstock. ENGLISH THOROUGHBRED.The foundation stock of this breedcame from the Orient. The early im-portations we-re made during the earlyyears of the seventeenth century.King James I established a racecourse which had much to do withthe improvement of the Thorough-bred.
