Scarcehave we bidden farewell to Bona, when we are gazing in admirationupon the magnificence of the Gulf of Bougie, with the Great Kabyliaand Cape Carbon lifting their gloomy heads in the far distance.By noon, we have arrived in the Bay of Algiers, passing here atrading steamer, there a sailing ship, her canvas gleaming far awayover the blue waters. Algiers, the ever-attractive, seems in thebright light of heaven too beautiful a spot to have so dark a history,and it is with a sigh of regret that we watch the hills of theMustapha Sup^rieur until they, too, are lost in the distance. With hearts beating high, we watch the noble vessels pass awayinto the distance, and then, as the sun sinks below the westernhorizon, we steam into the harbour of Gran, after one of the mostinteresting and enjoyable excursions which the stay-at-home touristcould possibly experience.
