Summary

Description Milford's (New Zealand) first post office was this tiny rock at the mouth of Milford Sound. A rum barrel was hung on a tree on the rock in which mail would be posted. A white flag was then raised and passing ships would stop and sift through the mail. If any were addressed to a location they were heading it would be taken along and posted.
