Pvt. Henry Yon (CP 1017), National Museum of Health and Medicine

Description: Private Henry Yon, Company B, 208th Pennsylvania volunteers, shows the wound from a gun shot to his shoulder and scapula on April 2nd, 1865 near Petersburg, Virginia. Caption reads: “Gunshot fracture of scapula. Pvt. Henry Yon Co. B. 208th Penna.”

History is on reverse: “Henry Yon. Hospital Number 20.615. Henry Yon, private Company B, 208 Pa., Vols., aged 40th years was admitted to Harewood U.S.A. General Hospital April 5th 1865, with gunshot wound received near Petersburg Va., April 2nd. The ball, a Minnie, entered the shoulder near the acromion process of the scapula, which it fractured, and lodged in the supra spinatus space of scapula. Small fragments of bone have been extracted from time to time, but the wound did well, and he was sent North May 18th. Harewood U.S.A. General Hospital, R.B. Bontecou.”
