Kesenian ini terlahir dari Budaya masyarakat Sunda yang mayoritas dikenal bermata pencaharian sebagai Petani. Memikul Padi dengan bilah bambu yang menghasilkan harmoni dengan tali ijuknya. Masyarakat agraris ini terkenal sejak lama dengan varietas padi unggulan yang diwariskan secara turun temurun. Oleh karena itu Jawa Barat dikenal sebagai "benteng pangan" bagi masyarakat di Nusantara. Dari kehidupan agraris ini lah yang kemudian melahirkan berbagai kesenian dan tradisi, Seni Rengkong ini salah satunya. |
