Description |
English: Ship Catherine and Schooner Industry 8th of Jan. 1806 'Print showing the Catherine (1799), in the foreground, and the Industry behind her, in a gale. The Catherine is registered as one of W. Gray's merchant fleet in July 1806. In 1812 he equipped her as a privateer and she was captured by HM 18 gun brig Colibri in July of that year. This image is also published in Chapter II of George Coggeshall's 'Voyages to Various parts of the World', 1851, and the events depicted are described in detail from the point of view of the author, who was Chief Mate aboard the Industry for this voyage to Santa Cruz.
