Änderungswünsche bitte einfach auf meiner Diskussionsseite de:Benutzer Diskussion:Stern melden. Ich habe die Vorlage dieser Karte und würde Änderungen daher gerne selbst vornehmen. Bitte möglichst auch Quellen nennen.

Für die Recherche der Grenzen zwischen den Vierteln wurden verschiedene Quellen herangezogen. Es bleibt dabei jedoch nicht aus, im Einzelfall willkürliche Festlegungen zu treffen, da die Grenzen nicht immer eindeutig festgelegt sind. Hierbei sind Kompromisse zwischen den verschiedenen Beschreibungen gemacht und behutsame Anpassungen historischer Grenzen an heutige Siedlungsgebiete vorgenommen worden. Einige Festlegungen werden nachfolgend erläutert.

Als Grenze zwischen Oranienburger und Rosenthaler Vorstadt wird südlich der Invalidenstraße die Bergstraße angenommen, nördlich davon die S-Bahn-Trasse. Das Scheunenviertel wird etwa im historischen Sinne als östlich der Rosenthaler Straße gelegener Teil der Spandauer Vorstadt angenommen (dies widerspricht der Gleichsetzung von Spandauer Vorstadt und Scheunenviertel im gelegentlich anzutreffenden Sprachgebrauch, wodurch bspw. die Oranienburger Straße im Scheunenviertel liegen würde). Die Spandauer Vorstadt reicht hier im Osten bis zur Karl-Liebknecht-Straße und im Westen zur Friedrichstraße. Die historische Königsstadt macht den nördlichen Teil des Gebiets Alexanderplatz und des Stralauer Viertels aus. Sie ist durch die Bebauung im 20. Jahrhundert weitgehend aus dem Stadtbild verschwunden und daher in der Karte nicht mehr eingetragen. Der südliche Teil des Gebietes Alexanderplatz ist ein Teil des historischen Altberlins. Das hier als Gebiet Alexanderplatz bezeichnete Stadtviertel umfasst neben dem eigentlichen Alexanderplatz auch einige der angrenzenden Gebiete. Als Neukölln am Wasser wird das Gebiet südlich Altköllns angenommen, das nördlich der Wallstraße verläuft. Altberlin wird als das Gebiet zwischen Spree und Stadtbahn angenommen. Bei mehreren Stadtvierteln liegen äußere Teile außerhalb von Berlin-Mitte. So setzt sich bspw. die Friedrichstadt in Kreuzberg fort und die Stralauer Vorstadt in Friedrichshain. Dieser Umstand wurde in der Karte nicht berücksichtigt.
