Description
English: Original steam engine used by people of the Koreshan Unity Settlement in the late 1800s. Caption on the informational poster reads: "This 12x16 inch balanced valve stationary steam engine, manufactured in the late 19th Century by Schofield's Iron Works of Macon, Georgia, is the type of engine that the Koreshans would have used in some of their industries during the first several years after settling in Florida. Steam engines, used with an attached boiler to produce steam, powered the Koreshans' publishing house, boat works, sawmills, and various machine and woodworking shops". Located at Koreshan State Park in Estero, Florida.
