DescriptionStock Barn with Two Silos (7450271856).jpg
The stock barn with two silos in the Edward L. Ryerson Area Historic District in Deerfield (1938). It was unusual to bring in an architect to design farm structures, but Ryerson commissioned Winnetka's Edwin Hill Clark to design his property. The barn was designed to resemble a typical New England barn with a gable entry. Ryerson tried to raise cows, steer, and pigs, but took little satisfaction out of it. He found more enjoyment with raising Arabian horses. His horses won many blue ribbons and sold for high prices.
