' Text Appearing After Image: , REVIEW OF REVIEWS CO. ON THE SLOPES OF SHILOH FIELD - PITTSBURG LANDING — A FEW DAYS AFTER THE BATTLE By the name of Pittsburg Landing, this Tennessee River point. Southerners designate the conflict of April 6 and 7, 1862. The building upon the left and one farther up the bank were the only ones standing at the time of the battle. Of the six steamers, the name of the Tycoon, which brought hospital supplies from the Cincinnati branch of the Sanitary Commission, is visible. Johnstons plan in the attack on the Federal forces was to pound away on their left until they were driven away from the Landing and huddled in the angle between the Tennessee River and Snake Creek. The onset of the Confederates was full of dash. Sherman was at length driven from Shiloh Church, and the command of Prentiss was surrounded and forced to surrender.
