Summary

This is a GIANT perennial southern yellowjacket (Vespula squamosa) nest which is a part of my personal collection. Photo shot by User:Hornetboy1970 in 2007. A partially-drunk one-gallon milk container is in the foreground for size reference.

User:Hornetboy1970 (Terry Prouty) reports via email to Robert Dodier: "The nest was collected in Alabama beneath the eave of a home back in 2007. I have it posted on the BugGuide website (with more photos!). You can check it out here: http://bugguide.net/node/view/116608"

The page at bugguide.net states the dimensions of the nest as 18 inches by 24 inches by 12 inches.
