Summary

Description
English: Panorama over Upernavik cemetery from the southern end of the island in North-West Greenland. At the time, the cemetery was in the process of being expanded, as it was running out of space. Thus, the construction work in the background. Individual photos taken with a Canon IXUS 800IS. Cylindrical projection. Foreground patched with frames taken two weeks later.

Polski: Panorama cmentarza w Upernavik w północno-zachodniej części Grenlandii. Prace budowlane widoczne w tle miały na celu rozszerzenie cmentarza, na którym kończyło się miejsce.
Date
  • 6 August 2007 (Main subject photographed, six frames using Canon IXUS 800IS compact camera)
  • 6 August 2007 (First attempt to stitch frames from 2007-08-06 using Hugin. Never uploaded due to parallax errors. Decided to revisit the location for a new series of frames)
  • 20 August 2007 (Foreground in front of big white cross, eight frames using Canon IXUS 800IS compact camera)
  • 5 December 2011 (Second attempt at stitching frames from 2007-08-06 using PTGui triggered by this pano by Böhringer. Better than the Hugin stitch. Nominated at FPC. Reviewers request more foreground, and a solution to other quality issues. Nomination withdrawn.)
  • 7 December 2011 (Uncropped version of the PTGui stitch uploaded for discussion with other editors about possibilities.)
  • 8 December 2011 (Stitch created exclusively from photos taken on 2007-08-20. Better foreground but worse parallax errors in background. Also missing landscape to the right.)
  • 8 December 2011 (benh proposes to merge the two panos, and demonstrates the idea.)
  • 12 December 2011 (Combined stitch merging five selected frames from the 2007-08-20 image set into the 2007-08-06 image set using PTGui)
  • 14 December 2011 (Combined stitch edit removing color band in the sky and repairing soft area and cropped by Paolo Costa.)

NOTE: This image is a panorama consisting of 11 frames that were merged or stitched in PTGui. As a result, this image necessarily underwent some form of digital manipulation. These manipulations may include blending, blurring, cloning, and colour and perspective adjustments. As a result of these adjustments, the image content may be slightly different from reality at the points where multiple images were combined. This manipulation is often required due to lens, perspective, and parallax distortions.
