The labels are not correct. The shaded area shows Russian-occupied areas in the claimed DLNR. The area actually claimed is the entirety of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts (the Donbas).

The labels are also outdated. Since 2021 or so, and definitely after the 2022 “annexation,” sources label this “Russian occupied before February 24, 2022.” They no longer humour the Russian pretence of the Russian-controlled militias as “separatist republics.”  —Michael Z. 03:20, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
